Dr. Payne is a board certified Urological Surgeon from Poca, WV. She attended Marshall University and graduated from there in 2003 with B.S. in Biology. She enrolled at WVSOM the fall of 2003 to graduate in 2007 and in the summer of 2007 Dr. Payne began her Urological Surgery residency at Charleston Area Medical Center. As a resident she was involved in numerous research endeavors, national presentations, research/poster competitions that included but not limited to “A Review of Laparoendoscopic Single Site Live Donor Nephrectomy-Feasability and Safety Concern”, “A Randomized, Controlled Trial Evaluating the Role of Immuknow in the Management of Immunosuppressants Regarding Opportunistic Infections and Acute Rejection in the Renal Transplant Patient”, “Osteopathic Manipulation for the evaluation and treatment of Interstitial Cystitis”, “Ten Year Review of Posterior Urethral Injuries at CAMC”, and “Low Ligation Orchiopexy- Twenty Year Experience.
As a chief resident the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons awarded Dr. Payne the prestigious Resident Achievement Award amongst all surgical specialties. Dr. Payne currently serves as the treasurer of the Alumni Association at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and president elect of the Raleigh County Medical Society. She is the Physician Chair of the CPOM EHR Committee at Raleigh General Hospital and is committed to being an advocate and support mechanism for her colleagues during this climate of electronic change. She is passionate about WVSOM and regularly has medical students rotate with her.
Dr. Payne’s practice, Advanced Urology PLLC, is located in Beckley, WV. Her services and surgical repertoire includes laparoscopic robotic surgery, genital prosthetics, endoscopy, sexual medicine, and general urological care. She resides in Daniels WV with her life partner, daughter, and dogs. She is one of the owners of Crossfit YETI and is fervent about a healthy lifestyle. Other hobbies include rock climbing, biking, music, and traveling.
